Introducing "Biscuit"
We've got a new addition to our home. And his name is "Biscuit". He's a very full grown hamster, and as playful as all get out.
He's got the cutest little hands, and is the friendliest little hamster i've ever held. It loves to be picked up and petted, unlike other hamsters who simply try to get away the moment you touch it.
"Biscuit's" favorite spot is his wheel. He spends most of his waking hours running inside it...that is when he's not munching and hiding his food.
When he gets tired of running one way, he turns his body around and starts running the other way. He sure has a lot of energy for such a hefty little fellow.
Biscuit is DEFINATELY a male hamster. Lordy, its gotta be hell draggin those things around!!
The kid picked out the cage for "Biscuit". Its a Spiderman theme cage, of course. I wanted the super delux condo type cage, which had tons of tunnels and loops, but in the end, the kid won out, and we ended up with the smaller Spiderman cage. Its got some extra tubing holes, so maybe in time, we'll simply buy some accessaries, and "Mom" can build an addition to his cage. That way it can keep the Spiderman theme, and mom can still get her hamster condo to boot!!
I also got him an excercise ball, that way he can run around the house while i do stuff. He tends to enjoy running toward the fish stand and hitting it real hard, making the fish swim frantically. Then he'll run in the kitchen, turn around, and do it all over again. Makes me laugh every time. The picture above is taken in the kid's room, as he was racing around the house for the first time.
I love these little critters, so i might possibly be a bit more excited about our new pet than the kid is. Their lifespan typically is less than 2 years. And since "Biscuit" is quite the mature hamster, his days are probably numbered. **sigh**
